Terms and privacy

Who sells. Ascending Arc, LLC, a Texas company, [STREET ADDRESS].

What you buy. A drawing of a numbered tree in a shared picture. A payment here does not plant a living tree. This is a payment to Ascending Arc, LLC, not a charitable donation, and not tax-deductible. Ascending Arc, LLC is a for-profit company, not a charity. A tree is $1, $5, $20 or $100. A bigger payment grows a bigger tree, and that is the only difference. Paying changes nothing outside the forest. Looking is free.

What you get. A numbered place in the picture and a link to it. You may share the link and pictures of your tree. The picture and its code stay ours. This is a license to view a drawing here, not ownership of it. It is not an investment. Your tree's address is /tree/N.

What "stays" means. Your tree keeps its number and its shape for as long as the site runs, except as "If the site closes" says.

If the site closes. We can change how the picture looks, or close the site. We aim to post a notice here 30 days before closing. We do not remove trees unless the law or our payment provider requires it.

Refunds. All sales are final: there are no refunds once a payment completes, except where the law requires one, such as a charge you did not make. Your tree stays either way.

If you are in the EU or UK. Your drawing is digital content, delivered the moment your payment completes. Where your local law gives you a right to cancel that cannot be waived, we honour it.

Using the site. To pay, you must be 18 or have a parent's or guardian's permission. Pay only with what is yours. Don't attack or overload the site. Reading the forest by script is welcome at a polite pace.

Machines. If software pays for you, you are the buyer and these terms apply to you. A machine can read the forest, and can pay for a tree at the same prices as a person. Machines pay through their own Stripe checkout links, one for each price, listed in /llms.txt once the forest is open; a person pays with the buttons on the forest page. A tree paid for by a machine is drawn in coral and labeled "paid by machine". An agent must show its human the amount and that all sales are final, and get approval before paying. To read the forest, ask curl -L forestofdots.com for it as text. The file /llms.txt describes the site. /api/forest.json lists every tree as [cents, bot, at], where at is when the payment was made, in Unix seconds to the minute, and a tree's number is its position in the list. /tree/n gives that tree's details as JSON to a client that asks for JSON.

Limits. The site comes as it is, with no promise that it will always be up or free of errors. Our total responsibility to you for a tree is the amount you paid for it.

Law. Texas law governs these terms. Nothing here removes a right your home law gives you that a seller cannot take away. California buyers can reach the state's Department of Consumer Affairs at 1625 North Market Blvd., Suite N 112, Sacramento, CA 95834, or 800-952-5210.

Lost your tree link? Write to [CONTACT EMAIL: not set yet] with the payment details Stripe sent you, and the link will be sent again.

Privacy. There are no accounts and this site sets no cookies. Stripe takes the payment and sees what you give it, and tells us your amount and the email you gave it. Our host, Cloudflare, sees each request to this site, including your IP address, and keeps ordinary server logs. When you come back from paying, this page asks our server to look your payment up with Stripe, and the server keeps a short-lived scrambled note of the answer so it can find your tree. The public forest list holds only each tree's amount, whether a machine paid, and the minute it was paid. This device remembers a pending tree and your feet or meters choice in local storage, and nothing else. Ascending Arc, LLC is responsible for this data. We use it to take payment, find your tree, answer you, stop abuse and meet tax rules. For buyers in the EU and UK, the legal reasons are our contract with you, our interest in running the site safely, and our legal duties. Payment records are kept as long as tax rules ask. Stripe and Cloudflare handle data in the United States and elsewhere under their own terms. We do not sell your data. To see, fix or delete what we hold, write to [CONTACT EMAIL: not set yet]. You may also complain to your local privacy regulator. This site does not respond to do-not-track signals. Changes are posted here. Effective [EFFECTIVE DATE].
